If you're finding shaving to be a painful or at least irritating experience with a lot of pulling (even with a new, sharp blade), nicks, or itchy skin and rashes afterwards, it's probably not the fault of your razor. It's most likely the fault of how you're preparing your beard for the shave. A close, comfortable shave can be had by practically any razor (although I prefer a good straight or double-edge razor) as long as two conditions exist: 1) waterlogged hair, and 2) lubricated skin.

Let's discuss the second condition first; lubricated skin. A razor blade is supposed to glide over the skin as it's cutting your hair, but if your skin is not slick enough, the blade(s) will catch on some tiny imperfection and either skip around or dig in. This can be avoided by the use of a good shaving soap or cream. Now I mean a glycerin based soap/cream, not some canned junk. Canned foam or gel is simply not slick enough and some of it can actually dry your skin, whereas glycerin is known for its moisturizing properties and provides the right amount of "glide" for your razor.

For the first condition, I do mean "waterlogged"; the more water the better. Dry hair is actually very hard and difficult to cut, but hair that has absorbed water is softer and weaker and more easily cut. That's why I recommend using a good Rooney shaving brushes here!
